Joseph Lawson was born at St. Matthew, Douglas, Isle Of Man, England, on 9 December 1824. He married Eleanor Garnett on his birthday in 1845 in the same city he was born. Eleanor passed away 27 July 1853 before she and Joseph had any children. Joseph married Ruth Margaret Greenway on 9 September 1855 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
